Queensland health

An agreement has been signed between Queensland Health and the National Clinical Care and Trauma Response Centre, which will mean Australia is more prepared than ever to respond to a national incident that causes a significant number of injuries.
In times of such an emergency, Queensland Health and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre are working together to provide additional skilled clinical staff.

These health professionals will be available for deployment to the centre at short notice and will have the skills and training necessary to provide immediate support to help assess and treat a wide range of critical injuries requiring emergency, surgical and critical care. Queensland Health is also provide a vital link to the centre at all times by sharing information, research, and best practice on national emergency health care.

Australian Trauma Quality Improvement
Program (AusTQIP)

The Australian Trauma Quality Improvement Program (AusTQIP) is a collaboration among 26 designated Australian Major Trauma Centres to further develop quality improvement systems and patient safety initiatives. Funding has been provided for two years (2011-2012) by the National Trauma Research Institute (NTRI) (as part of Alfred Health) and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC).

AusTQIP aims to share expertise and data to improve quality of trauma care, trauma system performance, survival and quality of life for injured patients. Building on the excellent work already in place at the Major Trauma Centres, AusTQIP aims to implement an integrated and coordinated approach to improving quality system processes nationally.

AusTQIP is underpinned by the development of an Australian Trauma Registry (ATR) to provide an evidence base for trauma quality improvement and scope development of risk-adjusted benchmarking of performance indicators. Through the ATR, AusTQIP will provide a standardised dataset that is comparable that can be adopted and used for measuring quality by the Major Trauma Centres and the State Trauma Registries.
